Oceanside Pier Sunset

It’s the most spectacular of displays, the one which is the most memorable and the one which if you ever come to the west coast of California you cannot miss.

To watch the sun set over the Pacific Ocean is one of life’s greatest of pleasures and one you never forget. We even saw the momentary, often elusive green flash as the last sliver of sun slipped below the horizon.

And afterwards, the gloaming deepened in intensity and colour as we browsed around Oceanside’s Sunset Market where there seemed to be a never ending supply of any foodstuff to satisfy anyone along with a myriad of stalls selling all sorts crafty items.

We walked over 6 miles around the sands, streets and marina this afternoon. Saw the duty pelicans and sea lions and enjoyed watching the sun gently descend to its quenching in the ocean. A much needed interlude after more talking this morning.
