Mini Forest
After the electricians arrived this morning I decided to take advantage of the lovely day to get outside, and then promptly forgot all about blipping so it's a good job I had blipped this little forest of oak trees first thing as I set about sweeping up the leaves outside the front of the house.
The oak trees are on the verge opposite our house, where we park the car, and I spotted them when I cleared it of dandelions and brambles back in the summer. We think they must be the result of a forgotten squirrel cache. Tony is waiting until they drop their leaves and then he will move and replant them in more suitable spots.
Leaves duly cleared, I set to work cutting down the dead plants in the mini meadow now that the seeds have all gone. Then it was time to mow it down to the ground. It was hard work and I had just about finished it when it broke the mower! Mower back in the glory box, I raked out all the dead matter and then spent the remainder of the afternoon trying and not always succeeding to clear the gaps in the stones on the patios of plantlife. They will have to be re-mortared at some point.
The electrician and his apprentice worked hard all day and cleaned up after themselves too. We now have plenty of sockets in what were the girls' bedrooms and are now used for visitors; old light switches replaced; that doorway light which had never worked fixed, a new cover placed on the bathroom fan and double USB sockets added in the living room. We now need to source an exterior light and Andy and Kane will return to install it.
Tony has been out all day with Peter fixing a vandalised bridge across a boggy area in the location where a large schools' orienteering competition is taking place this weekend. From the photos it looks like they've worked hard and done a grand job.
