Rijksmuseum in the Rain
A very soggy ending to our watery vacation -- it's pouring in Amsterdam today, but a perfect time to hop on the tram system and meander through the wonders of the Rijksmuseum.
We were lucky to see Rembrandt's famous painting The Night Watch which is almost at the end of an extensive restoration. We also admired several Vermeers, and other lovely portraits of wealthy patrons sporting their finest satins, velvets, and lace collars.
In the collage you can also spot Mr. W posing in front of a tiny car which I'm quite sure he could not possibly fit into, Vincent Van Gogh peering warily out from the doors of the Museum Shop (there was a line so long to get in that we didn't bother!), the astonishing museum library, a very pretty (and cheerful-looking) lady, a sweet little dog who is sitting in the middle of a very large Rembrandt painting, and of course the last picture is of me after almost three weeks of wining and dining!!!!!
Home tomorrow!
