No cat blip today. I went to a meeting of Karelian clubs and associations. After two wars in the early 1940s, the Soviet Union demanded the Karelian area as a prerequisite of peace. Almost half a million inhabitants had to be quickly evacuated in 1944. My late father was one of them. The ladies in the photo wear traditional dresses of Hiitola, the municipality where my father was born.
The atmosphere in the meeting was warm and I enjoyed meeting the folks there.
