Literary lunch at Somerville College…

……Oxford.
A wonderful time as the guest of Blipper Rainette, who is an Alumni of the College.
There was a lovely lunch after the drinks reception.
Afterwards the literary guest Suzanne Heywood took questions about her book “Wavewalker”, after being introduced by one the senior members. I read the book on holiday in October. I couldn’t put it down once I began to read it. An extraordinary autobiography of her struggle to gain an education when her dad decided to buy a boat and sail round the world, with her mum and Suzanne and her brother.(who at the time were aged 7 and 6 years old.)
What should have been a 3 year voyage became 10 years.
The story of how she finally was accepted at Somerville, and how much she had experienced in order to get there is both amazing and touching at the same time.
