Rain!
It took awhile to get here, but when it did, it came with a vengeance! It's difficult to get a picture of rain, but I think it's just possible to make out that it was coming down in stair rods. The birds have all sought shelter and except for the sound of the rain, it's very quiet today, as nobody is venturing out.
I count myself among those people. The farthest I've gone today is down to the garage to look at the Cornhole game we ordered to give the kids something to do on Thanksgiving. It is supposed to stop raining by then and I'm guessing there will be a few grown-ups joining in as well. We also have a dart board but we forgot to take it out of the rain last winter and it is rather the worse for wear....
Other than that, I have nothing to report. I have been sitting on the couch most of the day finishing the binding on Will's quilt...not a bad occupation on a cold and rainy day. John has been pacing around like a caged tiger...he has more energy than things to do inside the house. I finally prevailed upon him to read a fascinating article about the making of the excellent 'Life on our Planet' on Netflix. Produced by Stephen Spielberg and narrated by Morgan Freeman, it is the story of life's 4 billion-year journey on Earth through five mass extinctions. A behind the scenes production crew of academics and scientists makes it riveting. Don't miss it. And read the New Yorker article, Reinventing the Dinosaur in the Nov.6, 2023 issue if you can find it.
