Morning sun gave way to threatening rain clouds this afternoon. Lots of finches were gathered at the feeders along with a couple of white-breasted nuthatches. I was most pleased about seeing a bluejay, the first in more than a week. Last year they left in November and never returned until spring. It was strange as they wintered with us for more than twenty years. Fingers crossed they stick around • I thought I had finished trimming the perennials until seeing the two tall grasses on the side of the house next to the winterberry bushes. Oops!
