Produce taken home

Last Sunday, I described a visit to our local street market, and this week we did not resist the temptation to walk through it again. Here are some of the things we brought home. There is smoked cod's roe, fresh young garlic, and a lettuce from a nearby village.

The smoked roe is to make taramasalata, but it is absolutely delicious as is! I had a very satisfactory lunch of thin toast (rye bread), some slices of the roe, topped by some slices from the middle section of the garlic ("treat like leeks" we were instructed by the stallholder).

I have a few updates from last Sunday's Blip. For a start, I entitles last week's entry "rubbed pork", but it should properly be "Pulled Pork", as this picture of the back of the stall shows. The staff wear snazzy orange tops emblazoned with the insignia of the Shredded Meat Co.

The man from the IoW Garlic Farm was busy selling some of his fine products. Here is part of the display of tasty (and here tasteable) dips and the like that can incorporate garlic... No vampires around our house today!
