The Old Nelson
Today the village of Chinnor has about 7000 inhabitants and 3 working pubs: the Crown, the Red Lion and the Wheatsheaf.
In the 19th century it had 1000 inhabitants and 10 working pubs! The "lost" pubs were the Nelson (now an attractive house in the village street as you can see), Bird in Hand, Black Boy, Chairmakers Arms, King's Head, Royal Oak and Unicorn.
