Preparations
This afternoon we went to see "The Great Gatsby" at the cinema. We'd both read the book recently, and although we could see what Baz Lurhman was getting at it didn't really work for us. It felt both long AND superficial, and managed to lose the charm of the book. The conceit used to put the story in context felt wierd and inappropriate, and sort of seemed to be ramming the fact that the book is "proper literature" down our throats. That didn't make up for the fact that the film didn't really cut it.
This evening we made Fajitas for dinner. Here's MrsCyclops making her excellent guacamole.
