Raigmore Stairwell

So DH did go into hospital today.  He phoned Raigmore just after 9 and it was confirmed by 9:45.  He'd already packed when he got up, so we got ourselves organised and set off.  A dreich dreich dreich drive until close to Inverness, and, miracle of miracles, we found a space in the car park.  We reported in to the ward and were shown to a patient lounge.  The other couple waiting said they'd been waiting for a bed for two hours.  I waited for about an hour, when we figured it was pointless for me to stick around.  So I went round to the Maggie's Centre, had a cup of tea, my lunch, and a chat with a counsellor, then set  off up the road.
It looks like DH will be in for at least 12 days - 5 days of chemo and at least a week of monitoring.  I'll go down at the end of the week for a visit and pick up laundry, and stay overnight nearby.
Hope the treatment works.  The odds are good, it's effective for 90%.
