Dinky Toy double deck buses 29c
The left bus is the one I found at the toy fair on Sunday. It's probably the 1938/39 pre-war model Dinky Toy AEC with the 'Y' style radiator grille and in the best condition I've ever found. Alongside is a post-war version with the AEC triangular badge and other detail changes. I found a box of six of these in a toy shop in Teversal near Sutton in Ashfield in 1964, about 10 years since the style had been dropped in favour of the Leyland radiator type. That too was a rare find, all of them were boxed and in a Meccano outer wrapper. Sadly I was offered a price I couldn't refuse by a friend in a model club and they didn't stay in my grubby hands for very long.
Extra: The three buses I acquired for a total of £9 at the toy fair.
