Winkie the Pigeon

This sculpture has recently been put up in Broughty Ferry. Winkie was a homing pigeon on a downed WW2 aircraft who made it back to base and was instrumental in the plane being located and the crew being rescued. Winkie was awarded the Dickin Medal and the full story is easily found on Google.
I wonder how the people living in the house behind Winkie feel having such a local celebrity right outside their home. This is the first time I’ve passed and there’s not been a gaggle of people taking photos of Winkie :-)
