Last Lights

Cancelling all schedules, proceed to Andro since morning with Jonish, Amu, Samarjit and Amu latter joined by Yambung Bheigya and his son. Today's host is Joy, Municipal Councillor of Andro. A very hot day. Drink a lot of country brewed wine and beers to soothe the sultry souls. A hefty meal of pork. Then began the climb up the mountains in the west just after noon. However, the guide took a wrong turn and we're trekking deep inside the jungle in thick foliage all around and missing all chances of any landscape photography. Soon, on reaching the top, by sheer chance, we're separated - me and Amu straying looking for a vantage point to take the vast landscape below. Soon found a tree with few branches. Climb up with the utmost agility only to be swarmed by a horde of ants on top. Struggle hard and take a few shots. This goes on for a while and every time we climb down we got a horde of exotic orchids as a bonus! The others are well ahead of us by about one hour's trekking without having any picture taking opportunity and reached the meadow below and drinking to their hearts' content. In the meantime, Amu and me reached a stream and washed our bodies. Ah, what refreshment the cool water and the cool breeze bring! Finally regroup at the meadow with the others. This play of light on the eastern hills was sighted by us. But none of us are willing to climb up again. However, me and Samrjit hopped up there after a couple of quick swig of the country wines. The light's falling rapidly and we're breathing heavily. By the time we reached the top, it was almost gone. Still we persisted and the sky gave some dramatic hues of the twilight. Got some shots. As usual more to work upon now. Will have to return again another day or else to hold for a couple of days for more studies of the views and play of lights on this very good vantage point. Till then,
