Red-Tailed Hawk

(Buteo jamaicensis)

"Bullet in a Blue Sky"

With a 48 inch wide wingspan, an enormous and beautiful bird.
I can watch them for hours, and when they dive on prey
with speed in excess of 120mph, just wow!

Just can't figure out why they are called Red-Tailed Hawks ;o)
