Kyoto Tower and Hotel

This dominates Kyoto city centre skyline, though there is some stiff competition from some pretty remarkable modern architecture. The hotel has been our base for a week (merely on floor 7!) - but we did make it to the top of the tower for some stunning views!
Must admit I was worrying all the time we were at the top of the 100 metre tower about what would happen if there were an earthquake! But I was brave and stoic and tried not wimp out too transparently!!!
Back on terra firma, left today for Matsumoto (our base for the next seven days) our train threading its way through tunnel after tunnel, spectacular snow-topped mountain passes and river valleys into Nagano prefecture.
Looking forward to some quality time with No 1 son James, daughter-in-law Yukari and grandchildren Eleanor and Ceilidh.
