Bad Hair Day
Blue skies and sunshine saw me heading to Hatchlands for lunch and an afternoon walk. Autumn is still very much in charge as I walked though the estate with many of the trees still covered in leaves of the most wonderful hues. However, my subject for today just had to be the bonnet fungi I found in the bluebell woods.
Many of the bonnets were covered in tiny hairs with pin-like endings, hence the name pin mould, a parasitic mould on mushrooms especially mycena. Look large to see the pins!
