Down Under
The Australian Pink Floyd in action at Venue Cymru last night. Note perfect renderings of classic Pink Floyd songs, but with an Australian twist now and then. Such as a giant inflatable kangaroo rather than Floyd’s inflatable pig. But something wasn’t quite right last night, as you can see from the picture and at the end of the song (“Run Like Hell”) the guitarist stepped up to the mic and said (try and hear this in an Australian accent) “Jeez, Skippy looks a bit pissed tonight!”
It was a superb concert with Dark Side of the Moon played in its entirety and then a second set of classics. I’d chosen seats closer to the stage than where we normally sit, but hadn’t taken the sight lines into consideration and the speaker stack rather blocked our view of a big chunk of the stage and the lighting and visual effects. Luckily, the quality of the sound more than made up for that slight irritation.
After stopping overnight just outside Llandudno, we came home this morning and thought it would be a good idea to call in at the Cheshire Oaks Outlet Village on the way home. But guess which numptys forgot that today was Black Friday! Big queues to get into the car parks - and very few spaces to park in when you eventually did get in. And a lot of the retailers - Nike being the worst - had massive queues just to get in to the shop. It was my idea of hell on earth but, having made the effort to get there, we persevered, although we only visited the M&S Outlet Shop. Managed to pick up some good bargains though and they didn’t even cost that much as we had some gift vouchers to use up.
Due to not hanging around after that, we had a good journey back to Kendal and I was able to squeeze in a session at the gym. Tonight is the first of three gigs for the band this weekend but, as it’s in Kendal, I can have a leisurely tea before heading down into town - an unaccustomed luxury!
