I noticed with some dismay yesterday that Kamco's on South Clerk Street is up for sale. That was always a plausible end result of a Sainsburys Local opening on the corner.

It is, in my honest opinion, utter bull-doodie of the highest level. When I rule the world, councils will most definitely not be allowed to grant planning permission to big companies who are going to come in and shut down local businesses that have been serving their community for over 30 years.

This shot is the neighbouring Fresh Choice. It was controversial in its day, opening right next door to Kamco's like it did. Over time it was accepted and fora long time was the second chance at items Kamco might not be stocking. Now it will stand alone. But for how long? I wouldn't hold my breath.
