Just a parrot's life

R.I.P. my sweet quaker parrot Paulie

My heart is shattered into a million pieces... My sweet quaker boy Paulie has gone to the rainbow bridge today.  This morning I came over to the cage to give him his meds and he was on the bottom with boths feet fully squeezed. He was not good. Dunno how long he may be laying there. I immediately took him out and put him in a towel with me. I knew he was dying because he already felt very weak. Rushing to the avian specialist in Utrecht wasn't an option because I just knew the avian atheroscleroses was killing him. For 6 years he is treated for this and we all know that there will be a moment that the meds doesn't help anymore. He died in my arms in the towel peacefully at 1 PM.
I tried to put his girlfriend with him but she wasn't interested I guess because Paulie was already in a coma and didn't react anymore. I do have some photos of her and Paulie.
I brought Paulie to an animal crematorium in Prinsenbeek where Mickey also was cremated.
He is cremated at about 4:40 PM and tomorrow I will get his ashes in a beautiful urn.
I want to thank my avian vet Peter Bastiaansen and the avian specialists Yvonne van Zeeland, Nico Schoemaker and not to forget Zoë van der Plaats. Also Magali and her colleagues.. Without their amazing care he would not be alive anymore for years.
Dr Yvonne was his permanent vet and as you all know she is beyond amazing and in my opinion the best. She is there for your bird ánd for the owner more than a 100%.
I am fully drained now. Have to be there for Mrs Quaker because she is very upset. She finally is eating now, thank God.
