Burma to Myanmar
There’s a wonderful exhibition at the British Museum called from Burma to Myanmar that tells the turbulent story of the country. The colonial element is naturally horrific, Britain does not come out well (spoiler alert: colonialism never benefits the society it’s dominating). However the artefacts in this show reveal a resilient, courageous and highly creative people.
The main is a section of a cotton wall hanging made between 1900-1930, illustrating the Ramayana. The extras are just a few of the other items.
