Krista on Graduation Day

The photos were sent to us by Renata from Krista's graduation yesterday. I was sad that we couldn't be there, but I should be able to see the archived video of it. I wanted to record this special day for Krista, even though the photos weren't taken today.
How proud we all are of Miss Krista, as her Kindergarten students call her! She has accomplished so much in her life so far. As an athlete, she played sports but her love was horses and she jumped competitively for a few years. She went to Olds College in Alberta right after she graduated from high school and got a diploma in Equine Science and a certificate in business. Krista then worked in a barn looking after horses for a couple of years, and I absolutely loved visiting her there and spending time with the horses too. We have so many great memories of watching her learn to ride at an early age and then compete. 
Krista always wanted to be a teacher, so she went to Capilano University to get a degree in Early Childhood Care and Education, then applied to SFU and UBC to do the Post Degree Program in Elementary Education. She was accepted at both and decided to go to UBC. She completed the degree in July and is now teaching Kindergarten. She's the third generation teacher in the family! When we were over last week, we were delighted to have the chance to visit her classroom on Friday afternoon after the children had gone home. So cool to see how she's set up the classroom and some of the displays of children's work in the room and in the hallway. Renata and Spencer have both volunteered in her class, and I really hope that I'll get a chance to do that one day. Krista is an amazing woman, beautiful inside and out, with many qualities that make the choice of teaching perfect for her. 
When Renata told us that she was pregnant with Krista, I thought, "I'm far too young to be a grandma!" But oh how special it's been to spend quality time with Krista all these years and now to talk teaching with her! Love her to bits.  :-))
