Giving Thanks

You’d be forgiven if, from this distance, you thought they were sheep, but we’re looking at a large flock of wild turkeys as they make their way across the meadow and into the woods on this clear and gorgeous morning. The view is from campus, across the Bay and over to Monterey. And there are 34 turkeys. Sorry, I can’t help it. Once you’ve worked the front of the house you’re always counting things: audience members, empty seats, children, wheelchairs, ticket stubs. Even in dreams I walk up and down the aisles, busy and alert.
