SOUTH END OF GULL HEADING NORTH
I know it's Flower Friday but shoot!.......it's 12°F. (-11°C.) out there and flowers just don't grow at that temperature...............so, I was just messing around shooting a few gulls this afternoon on my way back from the service station...wife's car needed some work.

This is a Ring-billed Gull (Larus delawarensis); for some strange reason, Americans in general and Wisconsinites in particular call them Seagulls...never mind that we're 1,000 miles (1,600km) from the nearest sea. As a biologist I'm a stickler for accuracy so to me they're just gulls...period!

This particular bird was flying near the lighthouse in Fond du Lac, WI near the foot of Lake Winnebago. Go ahead.....Google Lake Winnebago and you'll see where FDL is and you will see that this is the largest in-land lake in the state being 27 miles long (43km) as the crow flies (60 miles driving) and averaging 5 miles (8km) in width. It's actually just a widening in the Fox/Wolf Rivers watershed and is home to the largest population of Lake Sturgeon (Acipenser fulvescens) in the world. World class fishing for walleye (Sander vitreus) as well.
