Rushing

Deadline pressures sometimes yield surprising results. I might not have taken this shot had I wondered around on a more lengthy photo walk. It's obvious what the subject is, yet the image is not a description of something I saw. Instead it's a representation or interpretation based on my state of mind at the time. Which is more true?

What is it that I find appealing? Colours are soft and muted, yet there is colour contrast, arguably a bit too balanced. However, oranges and blues are much the same light tone, taking the lion's share against the darks. Although soft, there is enough variation in texture to keep the eye moving.
