Day out - mostly on the replacement bus

Bright idea to go to Winchester. Sunny, blue skies, but cold. I read, there were replacement buses between Bournemouth and Southampton Parkway, but was only supposed to add about half an hour to the journey.

Took forever on the A338. No idea what the problem was. We must've been on the bus for about two hours. (should've taken ca 45 mn). Then long wait for the train. Journey took 3 hours instead of less than the usual 1hour

Walking into town from the station we passed a small, busy Japanese fusion restaurant. Much to Mr Bs chagrin, decided there and then we were going to have lunch. It was very good.

Winchester centre was packed out. Huge queues to get into the cathedral etc.We walked down the main road to the river and then got a bus back to Southampton Central, where we picked up the replacement bus service back to Bournemouth. Both very pleased to be home again.
