Loup of Fintry
We woke to a hard frost and the temperature outside was -2C. The sun was shining though.
A few days ago Bob and I went over the Crow Road in the Campsies to Fintry. We saw a sign for the Loup of Fintry on the River Endrick, and wanted to view the Falls, but the path was challenging although not long, and boots were required for safety.
We decided to return today and we walked to the Falls; they are quite spectacular. A 94 ft plunge into the river. If you look closely at the image there is someone standing at the edge at the top left of the falls which gives an idea of the scale.
The sun was in the wrong position for us but I still managed to get a reasonable picture. We spoke to a couple from Poland who were on the way to a wild swim, they said there was a good spot upriver. And when we were viewing the Falls, a family who were of Chinese origin came along and we had a nice conversation with them, they had been in Scotland for 14 years, and we teased them about their lack of a Scots accent.
Scotland is turning into a multi-cultural country!
After our walk we headed into Fintry village. They have a really nice sports centre there, run by the community, and we had hot rolls with sausage and a cuppa, and lots of chat with the very nice ladies who were in charge.
As we left there was a group hanging out the village Christmas lights on the hedges and trees around the village.
