The Gentleman's Club (part 2)
A companion piece to yesterday's blip. I didn't plan it that way, but I found myself walking past on the way to Waverley and it struck me that this would be a very apt blip for today.
This anonymous door is the door to the New Club, which is a real Gentlemen's Club. It's where the Great and the Good of Edinburgh go and do whatever the Great and the Good of Edinburgh do.
I've actually been in there a couple of times. They rent rooms to training organisations and such like for talks and seminars and I've spent a few hours in there being talked at. Although it's located in one of the modern buildings on Princes Street, once you're inside it's very much as you would expect: wood, leather, bookshelves packed with hide-bound volumes recounting great military exploits and walls covered in paintings of questionable artistic merit but unquestionable gravitas.
I shall never be a member of the New Club. If I ever express any desire to become a member of the New Club, please shoot me.
It's the weekend at last! I'm sitting next to a lovely imp who is threatening to feed me tasty food :-) Hooray!
Have a good one, everybody :-)
