Gaudy Gaudí

The Christmas lights are on in Barcelona and quite a splash they make! Gaudí’s Casa Batlló enters into the festive spirit with its own light show which I captured in a certain gaudy way!

Many, many thanks for the lovely messages from around our blip world for my 5,000th blip yesterday. It was my most-hearted blip and I appreciate all your goodwill!

In case you are interested, Gaudí only signed for 25 buildings in his life. The average architect signs off 100 buildings. 7 of Gaudí’s are on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. Interestingly, he did not sign off on the Sagrada Familia as he knew it would take more than his lifetime to complete and wanted to encourage younger architects to join the movement that would result in his most visionary project being collaboratively delivered with other creative input over the subsequent decades, all from start to finish reliant on public donations.
