Porthgwidden Beach
Today was forecast as being wet all day. We decided to go to St Ives and maybe head off elsewhere if we wanted to. As it was we stayed all day in St Ives. We parked at the Island carpark and wandered onto Porthgwidden Beach. Despite the sky being very grey the sea was still showing the lovely blue and green hues with the pale sand on the beach. There were few people about but slowly more people arrived. One or two individuals had a swim, several people were walking dogs and some families also enjoyed visiting the beach. At one point it started to rain fairly persistently but then stopped. We took various types of photos here and just as we were heading back we saw a seal nearby and then a group of about 8 dolphins swam past. Lovely to see.
We stopped for a coffee and by then the visibility had diminished, it was starting to drizzle so decided to head to the Tate Gallery. We listened to a short talk about the artistic rebirth that followed Morocco's independence following the teaching methods of the Casablanca Art School and then viewed the exhibition.
By the time we left the rain had eased and we spent the rest of the day wandering around the harbour taking various shots including those of the waves as the tide came in. An enjoyable more relaxing day.
It was our turn to cook this evening so we were back late afternoon and had a good evening meal with the rest of our group.
