Isle of Arran

Built in Port Glasgow by the Ferguson shipyard in 1982 this fine ferry is still giving good service. In this postcard the bow door is about close at Ardrossan as she prepares to sail to Brodick on Arran. Fergusons has successfully built hundreds of ships and about half of Calmacs present fleet. An early tug of 1903 "Lyttelton" is beautifully preserved in New Zealand. Loyal fans of the yard hope that it can survive its present well publicised difficulties and continue to build fine ships.
