Clouds and Crenellations
Mourão's castle was built, or, most likely, rebuilt over an original Moorish fortification (or maybe even Roman) in 1226, during the reign of Sancho II. It has eleven quadrangular towers, mostly semi destroyed. The top of this main one was hit by lightning a few years ago, but has been rebuilt, thankfully.

Gratefuls:
- getting parcels parceled up and sent
- Netty filling up our fridge with food she hadn't used (they fly early tomorrow)
- finishing an excellent book, The Dolce Vita Diaries, by Cathy Rogers; she does such a good job of explaining the feelings of moving to a new country and a supposedly ideal way of life; they moved to an Italian olive grove and founded Nudo
