Angkor Thom

Up early for our plane to Siem Reap, a bus to downtown and a one-dollar tuk tuk to the guest house, a very pleasant establishment with a leafy private courtyard, quite an oasis compared to the chaos of traffic without. We employed the services of a tuk tuk driver, Koyal, through the guest house for the rest of the day and got to work on the temples. Having done the admin and secured our three-day passes from the relevant office, we put Angkor Wat aside for the obligatory sunrise visit tomorrow and started instead with Ankor Thom, where we visited the Bayon Temple, with it’s hundreds of massive carved heads and the very atmospheric smaller temple at Preah Khan. After that we admitted defeat and headed back to eat at the guest house…
