Tinto Hill

Yesterday's frost has melted away. After breakfast we all set off for a walk around Broughtonknowe Wood which has a mix of native trees and commercial trees and lots to do, see the website here. There are guides, trails and hides for bird watchers. Walking along the path we hear a screech belonging to a bid of prey. Sitting on a telegraph pole is a common buzzard, Extra. There are also lovely view such as the main blip of Tinto Hill, clouds scraping the summit. More photos in the Flickr album here.

After the walk, it is back to Biggar for a lovely lunch in a café, soup to warm us up followed by cake and coffee for dessert. Then walk around Biggar, but most shops are shut. The charity shop is open. Then back to son's house to pick up rucksacks and head in to the centre for the bus back home. The bus journey is very comfortable, but the weather turns worse as we head north. Atmospheric. The journey doesn't take long, only 50 minutes, which includes picking up some damp looking hikers, and some suspiciously dry ones. (probably spent the day in the Flotterstone Inn). We get home at just the right time for afternoon coffee.
