Going Underground

I went for a  walk through the woods from home this morning. I wanted to check on the Spindle Tree. For most of the year spindle trees in the woods can easily be overlooked. However, at this time of year the crimson and orrange berries stand out on these relatively small and spindly-looking trees. What I did not expect today was to find more spindle tees growing alongside the course of the old granite tramway.. The tramway itself was used to transport stone and slate from the quarries in the Plymbridge Valley to the sea. It passed through a tunnel which is now boarded up with a heavy metal door. The graffiti has faded a bit since I last blipped it in December last year but it still provides an arresting sight as you reach it through the undergrowth in the wood!
