A grand day out - plus Christmas dinner

Two of our lovely members of the Arts Society, as we were listening to the fascinating story of the family who have been part of Chillington Hall near Wolverhampton.

Our guide, who must have been an accomplished archivist, took us through the history of the family, and really brought the story to life. She’s only been in post for five years, but, with lockdown giving time to peruse family letters, she had a really vibrant understanding of the characters, scandals, and mishaps. 

The wallpaper in the picture was commissioned and hung (?) in the last few years. It looks at a glance like tapestry. It’s based on a real French tapestry, but it’s still wallpaper…….

Stunning light across the estate was a fabulous but freezing backdrop to a super morning.

And then it was time for Christmas dinner……
