Fungi fiesta
Casting around for a blip on a grey, cold somewhat damp raw day we came across this old trunk simply oozing with differ types of fungi. In addition to this assemblage the top of the log was weeping with purple fruiting bodies. No idea what it was. A subject for another blip I think.
We walked into town for one or two items as well as a coffee and lunch. We were pleasantly surprised to find the town centre was bedecked with a proper Christmas tree instead of the bleak cheerless artificial tree we’ve had for several years. There’s still a way to go with the tree as it is only sparsely decorated with spindly white lights. A step in the right direction.
Susan went to see her mum in hospital this afternoon and to visit her long time neighbour who is in the next ward suffering from sepsis. Doreen is making progress and may be discharged shortly. She’s remarkably resilient for someone who is 98. Her neighbour and friend who is 88 may be in for a longer haul.
While Susan was visiting I was engaged in various financial challenges which were eventually satisfactorily conclude. I think.
Tonight’s Uketok included a couple of songs in memory of the Pogues lead man, Shane MacGowan who died today at 65 having lived a life on the edge for many years. We saw the Pogues often on their Christmas tours in the early 2000s.
It’s been a day for the passing of well known public figures with the lives Alistair Darling and Henry Kissinger also ending.
