It’s December, so it must be Christmas …
… or it will be in 24 more days.
Tonight the lights on the large Christmas tree in front of the Town Hall were being switched on at 9:15pm. We’d been for a drink in the Victoria Lounge and chatted with a lovely couple from Copenhagen, then had a meal at the Star and Garter and chatted to a nice lady from Tauranga and a lovely young couple from New York, but decided to head on up the hill rather than wait for the big event as it was still light just after 9pm.
We had coffee with the Newcomers’ Group at the Opera House this morning and now have a date in the calendar for a garden tour to Dunedin in mid-February next year. We’ve also been invited to a dance at the Duntroon Hall tomorrow night. We’re tossing up whether to go or not. It’ll be fun, but it means a 45km drive home afterwards, which we’re not sure about.
J the plasterer actually turned up and has put the first coat of plaster on. He’ll be back tomorrow to do the second coat.
The building behind the Christmas Tree is the Forrester Gallery, formerly the Bank of New South Wales.
