Penumbra prize haul at Chil gig

We've enjoyed the most wonderful night out this evening. Mr hazelh drove the three of us down to Leith Dockers Club for a charity concert by Chil in aid of Penumbra Mental Health. Several of our friends were there - including Katharine, Bruce, Elly, Jon, Mike, and Susie - all of whom danced enthusiastically for about three hours. Meanwhile Jack entertained us on stage playing rhythm guitar in the band.

My new sparkly outfit, completed with the red cowboy boots that I bought in August 2017, was much admired. I was even complimented by a very glamorous young woman desperate to know where she could source a skirt and boots just like mine. I answered that she'd easily find the skirt on Princes Street, but that it would be a long trek to Nashville to pick a pair of boots.

There was a raffle between Chil's two sets, with some amazing prizes generously donated by local businesses. Our table bought several strips of tickets, pleased to be able to give to the charity more than the ticket price for the evening. We also hoped that we might pick up a prize or two.

As things turned out, our investment gave some immediate returns. Of the twenty-six prizes in total, Mr hazelh, Mummy hazelh and I won three: (1) a bottle of whisky: (2) a £40 voucher for lunch at Loudons; and (3) an overnight stay for two on the Ocean Mist including breakfast with fizz - the top prize of the evening. The others won another eight prizes between them, including a flight over Fife for two for Katharine, and a pet photography session for Jack (who now needs to acquire a pet!)

Earlier in the day I followed my usual Friday morning routine of a ride on my exercise bike at home, pilates class, and swim. In the time between lunch and heading out to the gig I split my time between work, Mummy hazelh admin (including a phone call with occupational health), and domestic duties.

Exercise today: 1 hour on the exercise bike; pilates class; swim (30 lengths); walking/dancing (22,555 steps).
