That’s what I wanted to see

Those hairy bits are the brush. I knew that my chimney rods fell a bit short of the top of the chimney.
I eventually (like 4 years later) bought some extra rods. I was surprised that I needed an extra 4 metres.
I had lumps of tar the size of my fist descending down the flue. In fact I got the whole 15 metres of rods stuck up there for a while. I was swearing profusely.
I didn’t deserve to get out of that situation but I did.
