Grey Squirrel Nesting
I had no intention of leaving the house today. I hurt my back again while cleaning the garage yesterday... and of course, that triggered a monster migraine. Yuck. But Blip was a calling and I couldn't ignore it... So I dragged my sorry butt out the door and snapped a few passable shots. Ugh, just couldn't get into it or stand the light. I was about to give up when I saw quite a bit of activity in a nearby tree. This squirrel was dragging and placing small branches of leaves into a Y of the tree. She'd spend lots of time within them arranging the branches. Then poked here head out just in time for me to snap a few images. Not super sharp by any means, the tree is at the maximum distance for this lens and the light was minimal in the shade... But I thought she look pretty cute and I'm excited to be able to watch a nest this close. So... blip. Whew glad that's over...
Grey squirrels are apparently pregnant for 45 days and they have 1-8 babies (usually 3 or 4). They'll come out of the nest when they are 6-7 week old. So I have a while to wait, but it will be fun to see when it happens. And hopefully lots of blip material too. :)
