London

Eldest amd I have endured public transport at its worst. Rushed out of the house to get a train to find it was cancelled, waited an hour for the next (train drivers strike meant only a handful of trains to and from King's Cross). The train had a fair number of morning drinkers knocking back bottles or beer and wine (straight from the bottle!)

When we made it to King's Cross, the place was awash with football supporters chanting all kinds of things 8 year old should not hear. On our way home, we walked past a lady who is unlikely to reeber throwing up in the doorway of a cafe.

However... we made it to the second job, eldest had a wonderful time being entertained by the staff - trying on a bearskin (worn for the coronation by its owner), and being taught some weapon handling.

We came back with a far smoother journey, although the train was packed. I made sure we were on a train well before the football had finished!
