Ready, set, go! Go!

I was out driving near a small lake, when a car going by flashed its lights. I slowed down, and could see something in the middle of the road.
It was a pretty good sized snapping turtle, who appeared to be crossing the road to reach the water. Of course, the first thing I thought of was "my daily blip!"
My husband walked over to it and was trying to shoe him across the street. Like that was going to work! Meanwhile all the traffic was stopped, because no one wanted to run him over.
Then another man came to him with a stick, and was trying to nudge him across the street.The turtle bit the stick in half! I was getting a little nervous, because I thought the turtle would just bite his foot or hand! Finally, the man grabbed the turtle's tail and pulled him to safety!
Mr. Turtle looked a little dazed, but kind of happy!
