Dag 3

Today we headed over to Gouda - with the exception of my b-in-law none of us had visited before (and he'd only been to outskirts).  Rather than just wandering around we explored the city by way of an "Escape Tour" which involved solving a series of puzzles to unlock next destination to visit.

It was good fun and took us to places we might otherwise have missed, including narrowest alley and a lovely set  of four stained glass panels representing the seasons. The owner of the house came back just as we'd solved the clue and stopped and chatted. She told us or rather J&J as she spoke in Dutch that she'd cycled from New Zealand to Netherlands.

We finished I'm good time and are currently in top 10 of finishers- yey us - and feature as fastest time this month. Suspect neither will last.

Our team name comprised national bird of Nerherlands and national animal of Scotland).

We then had lunch on the square - typical Dutch fare for me and T. Soup with a potatoe croquette on bread and a fried egg with melted Gouda cheese.  Lekker.

It's J (b-in-law) turn to cook tonight and we will be enjoying more Dutch food.

Been a lovely weekend and more to come.
