Ship News

I'm a week behind in Blip posts, and much as I want to catch up  in an orderly fashion, I couldn't wait to post this one for Saturday. It's the largest ship ever to come to Portland's dry docks for repairs.
We didn't even know about it, because, much as we love to see the ships on our daily walks, we don't look for any shipping news. That's going to change after meeting so many enthusiasts today.
We were on our way home from a drive to Sauvie Island when we spotted this ship approaching the St. Johns Bridge, and drove over the bridge just as this ship sailed under it. We sped over to this great viewpoint to watch as it made its way through the railroad bridge, then sped over to another good viewpoint on the campus of the U of P. There we met others who already knew the ship was due to arrive; we stood there for at least an hour (with cold, wet feet), and watched as the ship turned around and backed into the dry dock.
People weren't the only ones to check it out, a bald eagle soared overhead for a very long time; see the Extra, and note that the ship has indeed turned around.
