Wild

After a late rise and quick breakfast I loaded up the car and drove over to Berwick to collect LE from the train station. We drove over to St Abbs and had coffee (and a very welcome complementary mince pie and cup of mulled wine!) and a look around the art
Gallery before setting off on our walk along the cliffs and up to the lighthouse. Wasn’t as cold as the last few days and amazingly no wind. It was beautiful, with clear views for miles out to sea and across the snowy hills inland.
We’d seen signs about grey seals breeding but didn’t realise we’d pass two beaches where we were within a few feet of lots of seals and their babies. Fantastic to be so close and to see so much.
After spending time at each beach we pushed on and did the loop of the walk, chatting all the way about all sorts and admiring the view. We chatted to the ranger who was at a third beach and told us more about the seals and their habits. Back by the side of the loch and decided to walk down to the harbour to the cafe. Had a delicious bowl of Cullen Slink and some warm crusty bread - just the ticket!
Sleety rain had started as we left the cafe and the sun was starting to set, so we walked back to the car and headed home.
Dropped LE off and headed home where I sewed up the wool ends on my new throw and caught up on some recorded TV. I’ve a lot to do tomorrow but what a great day we’ve had
