Lost and found
Sunday 3rd December 2023
The Family Service had so many different elements today. We had a toy collection for children at the local women's refuge, we launched our Christmas Challenge - an Advent to Epiphany calendar, we had the prize giving for the Christmas trees and it was the launch of Posada.
Posada is when the crib figures of Mary and Joseph set off on their journey, staying at a different home in the parish each night until they arrive at the Crib service on Christmas Eve. There was a bit of panic before the service as the donkey hadn't been put out ready to go with them and we couldn't find it. I said in the service that he had gone missing and we'd send him to catch up with Mary and Joseph once we found him. That had caused a laugh and a few comments.
We found the donkey soon after the service. I placed him on the top of one of the trees that had two elves on, took this picture and posted it on Facebook, saying the Elves had delayed him. :-)
Our Christmas Tree Festival continued this afternoon and closed at 4pm with Choral Evensong.
