The Old Telephone Exchange
I walk past this nearly every day, it's the old telephone exchange that once stood only yards from the station platform. To the right is the building that stands on the site of the old Railway Station. The wooden structure that you can see to the left hand side was the new larger exchange that replaced this. It too is now obsolete, the current exchange is a brick building that in on the Belfast side of the village.
When I came to live in this village some 36 years ago the sub post office mistress was the last person to have worked in this exchange, it was the old switch cord and jack board arrangement. In those days the telephone operator knew everything going on in the village!
I have never shown this image before because with the 50mm lens used I could not frame the image, so the 35mm lens did the job. So the 35mm has a place, but you need to chose the occasions when you use it.
