Seattle Vacation: Day 2 …
… Cougar Mountain Zoo.
As always with our vacations we had a very full day.
We started the day at the Lake Sammamish dock area just to check this out. We really enjoyed this area and would end up returning here almost daily. But first … we headed over to Snoqualmie Falls to check out the waterfalls. The lighting wasn’t optimal but it was still lovely. After viewing the falls we had some lunch and then returned to the hotel for just a bit before going to Cougar Mountain Zoo … which is less than 10 minutes away.
We had a great time there although most of the animals were hard to photograph. But what I really loved were the beautiful gray wolves. I spent forever here photographing them. The area was open with no bars or cage to shoot through. I took over 100 shots of these beauties. But eventually I had to move on …
They had lots of different animals including a lot of macaws. We were lucky enough to be in the right place and the right time for a ranger led demonstration of what these beautiful birds can do. Most of them talked and it was hilarious. She had to make sure that the birds didn’t say anything inappropriate!
All told we spent about 3 lovely hours here.
After leaving the zoo we returned to the hotel for supper and then returned to the Lake Sammamish dock area to witness a lovely sunset … see Extras.
