Seattle Vacation: Day 6 …

… Game Day!

Today was all about the Seattle Seahawks!

I have been a huge fan of the Seattle Seahawks since I was young and have always wanted to see them play in their stadium and that’s what this vacation was planned around.  Luckily when the NFL schedule came out earlier this year I saw that they were playing their first home game on the first Sunday of the season … which just happens to be near my birthday.

Even though the game didn’t start until 1:25 pm we wanted to get to the stadium early to participate in all the pre-game activities.  We had a fun time walking through the fan zone area just taking in all the sights.  And even doing some the activities and getting our pictures taken at some of the set-ups there.

We eventually made our way into the stadium to find our seats.  But not before encountering the very made-up gentleman in the lower middle picture!  How do you like that face paint!?! He kindly let me take his picture.

After finding our seats and getting some pictures we looked around for some food as it was getting close to lunchtime at this point.  And we also spent some time simply looking around the stadium … which was fun.

Finally it was game time!  My lower left picture shows the Seahawks entering the field for the first time. And, sadly, that would probably be the last time we would see them all clearly.  Unfortunately for most of the game the whole stadium … including the people directly in front of us … stood up the entire time!  Now, if you know me at all you will know that I don’t have the physical ability to stand for hours at a time.  So we were looking through people for most of the game … which was very disappointing as these tickets weren’t cheap by any means.

And to make matters worse the Seahawks played terribly and ended up losing their home opener … big time!  The lower right photo shows the final play of the game.  The #7 player is the quarterback Geno Smith.  And, of course, my collage wouldn’t be complete without a selfie of Richard and me at the game.

The game wrapped up by 4:30ish and we were back to the hotel by suppertime.

Over all we had a great time … just wish we could have enjoyed the game more.

Backblipped: December 4 … yes, December! And it’s about time, too!
